As a part of our continued dedication to maximize the study abroad experience, Experiential Learning Abroad Programs (ELAP) are offered in Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Peru and Spain. ELAP believes that through volunteerism students build a more complete inter-cultural relationship with their host country. Additionally, ELAP creates the opportunity to practice Spanish through immersion and interaction with locals and is a great resume builder. Participants develop skills such as problem solving, appreciation for community and diversity, the ability to cooperate and collaborate in an international setting, as well as acquiring a more intimate understanding of global issues.
Many of our past participants have been able to earn academic credit for their experience through their universities. To facilitate this process, we are happy to provide advisors and faculty with detailed placement descriptions. We will also issue a certificate of volunteer hours upon completion of the program. Reflection activities, including written evaluations will be conducted throughout the ELAP experience and an evaluation of the volunteer will be completed by the supervisor at the organization as well.
